A curated guide to the surroundings of Monte Cora
Where the Forest Meets the Water
Lake Bajer
In the heart of Fužine. Enjoy the perfect 6 km walk around the lake, take out a boat, or try stand-up paddling on the calm morning water.
Lake Lepenica
A quieter, more secluded alternative to Bajer — perfect for swimming, relaxing, fishing or a ride on the lake boat.
Lake Lokve
Larger and wilder, Lokvarsko Lake is surrounded by dense pine forests for a striking landscape. Great for swimming, sunbathing, walking and photography.
Natural Wonders
Vrelo Cave
One of the few caves in Croatia fully accessible without steps. The lit interior reveals striking stalactites and underground formations, and it sits right next to Lake Bajer and Lake Lepenica.
Vražji prolaz & Zeleni vir
One of Croatia's most beautiful canyons, with wooden walkways and bridges threading between towering rock walls.
Kamačnik Canyon
A scenic 3 km trail along a crystal-clear river leading all the way to its source. An easy, picturesque route.
The Kupa River Spring
One of Croatia's most striking natural phenomena, in the heart of Risnjak National Park. The turquoise spring, more than 150 metres deep, sits among steep forested slopes for a scene of remarkable stillness and natural force. Two paths lead to it — a shorter, steeper one with steps, and a longer, almost flat trail along the Kupa, ideal for an easy walk through the forest.
Golubinjak Forest Park
Home to Europe's tallest fir, known as 'The Queen of the Forest', and to massive rock formations that create a remarkable natural labyrinth.
Sea & Coastline
The Riviera within reach
In less than half an hour the mountain air gives way to the scent of the sea. Crikvenica, Dramalj and Jadranovo are 25–30 minutes away by car. Pebble beaches and the Adriatic are easily reached for a day trip.
Where culture meets the coast
Opatija charms with its Lungomare seafront promenade and Austro-Hungarian architecture, while Rijeka brings urban rhythm, nightlife, culture and the view from Trsat fortress.
Active Days Outdoors
Risnjak National Park
A true wilderness sanctuary. From the climb to the impressive Risnjak peak to a stroll across quiet mountain meadows, the park is a masterpiece of karst landscape. Its summits offer some of the most beautiful panoramic views of the Adriatic and the Alps.

The 'Gorski Kotar Transversal' route offers hundreds of kilometres of marked trails, leading from quiet lakeside paths deep into the mountain wilderness.
